Quotes form “Mother Earth Spirituality” Ed McGaa…HarperCollions e-books. Available as a Kindle e-book.

By the way Ed McGae is a decorated pilot from the Vietnam War who happens to be a Native American Sioux…I highly recommend this book!

“The Warrior who feels the great mystery of existence is marked by a profound humility. Such new warriors will not see themselves as titans astride the universe demanding dominion as the white men do”..

“I recently brought my son a chart of human history. It measured eight feed by three feet and the industrial age was only two inches in the bottom of the graph”.

“The theologian Rheinhold Niebuhr declared that sin is a separation from the truth. If the truth, as seen in the Native American’s holy visions, is the profound interconnectedness of all existence, the sin become inevitable when one become alienated from nature.”

The white men’s arrogance “is a sin of hubris modern people believe that human beings are superior to and independent of nature”

“Love every leaf, every ray of light. Love all the animals, love each separate thing. If you love everything, you will perceive this you will grow every day in fuller understanding of it, until you come at last to love the whole world with a love that be all embracing and universal”

“Perhaps it is because our spirit guide happens to be a woman that the male oriented missionaries find it difficult to grasp.”

“Now our planet is in great danger. Why not turn to ceremony, at least to get the feeling, the message that our planet must live? She is speaking to us quite strongly already. Let her speak also in ceremony. We can gain a special resolve by communicating with.”

And so it goes. The planet is threatened by a pandemic that is taking the industrial nations apart. It does not discriminate, it kills regardless of who you are.

However, because of racism and prejudice, it effects poor people of color more harshly.

Kind of like the planted Small Pox blankets that General Sherman ordered given to recalcitrant Sioux women and children.

Disease was a racist tool used to kill Native Americans and take their land.

Now, suddenly we are all faced with the same thing, a pandemic like no other.

I hope you have all read that this was predicted. That the warming of the climate would encourage a series of pandemics coupled with an over populated and polluted world; that would wreck havoc on mankind.

And so it goes. Suddenly the culture shock, the hopeless felling that for all our riches and technology, we stand humbled by nature.

And so it goes. Suddenly our lives are turned upside down. The ordinary is gone…we seek communion with one another, but have to do it with Zoom. Our screens have become our portal peaking out a prison.

And so it goes. The gnawing thought that the Seventh Generation Prophecy, that foretold a disaster for the Western European conquerors, is coming true. Suddenly all the power on earth cannot conquer a thing we cannot even see.

And so it goes. We cannot find leadership, the circle is broken, we wander in a wilderness of fear and remorse.

“Black Elk saw the earth becoming sick. The animals, the winged ones and the four legged ones grew frightened. All living things became gaunt and poor.”

“The air and the waters dirtied and smelled foul. Below Black Elk saw a Blue Man living in and empowering the sickness”.

“The Grandfathers called upon Black Elk. His bow changed into a spear and he swooped down on the blue man, killing him. When the blue man fell, all that lived came back upon the earth, all things became fresh and healthy again”

“Then Black Elk saw that the sacred hoop of his people was only one of many hoops, all joined together to make one great circle, the great hoop of all peoples. In the center of the great hoop stood a powerful, sheltering flowering tree, and under it gathered the children of all nations”.

“The blue man of Black Elk’s vision is seen as a symbol of those who have harmed Mother Earth and all her creatures. The blue man. the Great Violator, symbolizes greed, corruption. dishonesty and selfishness.

Is it you or me?

God give me the sight to see the right, to do the right….
