Our Task to Save Our Country: Destroy Fascism.
Here it is…another verification of what many of us have been warning about: Trump is a fascist trying to build a fascist order.
And he is being aided by a Republican Party that is more fascist than he is.
Again, it is plutocracy..the same thing that afflicted the Weimar Republican leading to WWII..the same thing that afflicted Italy that led to WWII…the same thing that afflicted Japan that led to WWII.
The same thing that Europe is grappling with as we speak…the same thing that drives Putin and his henchmen who have Russia in a death spiral of fascism.
And now it is here. We just saw it and it won’t go away until we kill it.
And the only real way to kill it unfortunately is often with fatality. I am hoping this is a fatality that comes about peacefully, a constant vote fatality that reduces the Republican Fascist to dust without violence.
Republicans behavior the past few weeks makes a non-violence struggle that much more unlikely…
We could be looking at a run up for civil war.
We saw a bit of that in the recent election where ominously racism and fascism were evident in down ballot races. Republicans, after a disastrous performance with the pandemic, were given a break by voters and actually picked up seats in the House…Some of this is the product of the “socialism” dog whistle that Trump used, the same “red scare” nonsense that McCarthy used in the 1950s…
That resulted in a swing back to Democratic Party hegemony in the 1960s that was ruined by the Vietnam disaster.
As this happened, the Republican Party inherited the Dixiecrats, desperate to stop Civll and Voting Rights Acts.
They partially succeeded with Reagan, who inherited the right leaning Republican Party from the Nixon embarrassment (he was impeached and resigned).
But fascism is resilient, giving us George W Bush and then Trump.
Dick Chaney was a fascist! Bush didn’t know what he was?! Of course he did, because even then, Bush a electoral college selection without a popular vote, depended on Chaney’s fascism to sell his lie of invading Iraq. This history says was almost an accident?
Trump is no accident…his administration (if you can call it that) was predictable…authoritarianism personified; fascism encouraged!
And what fueled this political development: Racism and prejudice. Black Lives Matter were justified in their protests because in fact racism is exploding during the Trump administration. This in spite of the fact that the majority of white Americans are actually anti-fascist and anti-racist to a degree.
Every Fascist Government that has overruled democracy in the world came from minority political movements; who initially were seen as irrelevant. Democracies tend to be too tolerant of fascist movements until it is too late. I don’t think too many Americans think authoritarian fascism is that irrelevant anymore. But another trend is countries who see fascism developing tend to say, “It can’t happen here”…until it is too late.
Racism fascism is never irrelevant. It needs to be stamped out before it grows…Right now it is growing, resulting in the election embarrassment of Trump’s denials, that millions believe. Over 100 Representatives of the U.S. Congress just signed on to an effort to literally steal an legitimate election…and after dozens of judicial appeals, wound up getting rejected all but once…and that was irrelevant.
And what did Trump do, he doubled down…What did Hitler do, he wrote a book while in jail (the Weimar Republican should have hung him) and made a comeback that led to 55 million deaths world wide.
Trump’s fascism has resulted in over 300 deaths so far.
Trump was impeached and he did it…but Congress has so many fascists in it that conviction was impossible. And when a fascist gets away with something, they double down.
We almost saw democracy actually die in front of us during the “manufactured crisis” that Trump engineered when he lost the election.
A SCOTUS that Trump was lucky to hand pick was supposed to overthrow the election. It didn’t, giving us another chance.
We are running out of chances!
Become anti racist and anti fascist…study fascism “An Anatomy of Fascism” is a good start…some of you took my class, not that it was perfect, but it is a start…listen to the warnings they are real!
Over 70 years ago our nation and its allies paid a huge price to kill fascist countries. We are faced this time with fascism not overseas but right here at home.
African and Native Americans can tell you what is going on…they know fascist racism when it is evident because it has punished them for over 500 years. Ask them about Trump..ask them about what to do.
And don’t forget to talk to Jews, especially those who the holocaust touched; they know.
BLM showed extraordinary resilience and courage, every-time they protested in the middle of a pandemic that is killing more of color than white…they cared about their country more than whites who are privileged did; white privilege is wrapped around a fascist fanaticism, and not just Trump.
Just ask them and they will tell you if you ask the right questions…start with where they live.
Our only chance to save our democracy lies with our black and brown brothers and sisters…they know the way.
We white folks need to follow them…one is in fact, now Vice President of the United States…follow their lead….
