Bernadette Smith sits with a red handprint painted across her face with her daughter Chishkaleh Flores, 2, at the Missing and Murdered Indigenous People vigil at the Capitol on May 1. She holds a sign of her sister, Nicole Smith, who was murdered in 2017 on the Manchester Rancheria. Her murder is now a cold case.

Using the use of Native American slurs in athletic teams and mascots at K-12 schools is common in schools.

Among the bills passed was Assembly Bill 3074, which will prohibit K-12 schools”.

We all need to be more understanding of Native Peoples…They suffered a huge loss…millions of acres of lands, their religions, their very being.

Native Americans are just that…native to South, Central and North America…and the Polar North…

This is just unbelievable in scope and size.

It is a genocide that is much larger than what Hitler did in WWII…it went on for centuries…and still is discriminating against people of color.

American Presidents have declared war on Native People, and LIncoln was one of the worst; he was the great emancipator…and he left Native People out.

Still it goes on…the endless discrimination, the forced federal discrimination.

My great great grandfather who was Cherokee…He was a blacksmith who put shoes on horses…In those days, if you were caught with a shod horse (shoes) it was a CAPITAL OFFENSE!

He was hung for being a thief of horses….WHEN HE WAS WAS A VILLAGE BLACKSMITH.

White supremacy reigned supreme in the “Old West”…and it was led by thieves of the land.

We still have a long way to go to make this right…

I hang my head in shame as I was a Stanford Indian…???
