It breaks my heart….

Today is Memorial Day, and the United States is showing itself to be a failed state every blessed second of this day that is supposed to be a time of healing of showing respect for those who gave their highest degree of devotion.

In this soldier’s case, who happens to be a person of color, it was decades before the family got a decent story of what happened to their brother, son, and friend.

Tragically, during the Civil War both sides had never experienced the number of casualties and deaths. that modern warfare causes. So mothers and fathers did not know ever, why junior did not come home.

Bodies were buried on the battlefield, or rotted in the summer sun, never to be heard of again.

Because of that horror, Lincoln in one of his last official actions suggested some kind of memorial time, to remember at the time what were thousands of unknown soldiers.

The death tolls were so bad that people went insane not being able to grieve properly for the dead, and many never knew even what state the victims died in.

Today the United States will equal 1/6 of the deaths that we lost in the Civil War…100,000 deaths to 600,000 deaths in the civil war.

And just now, while listening to the news, I hear how officials are worried about socialization at the beach, because everyone is having fun at the beach…Officials are talking about how safe this is…as the dead from the Pandemic is about to equal 1/6 of the numbers died in the Civil War, 1/4 of the number who died in WWII.

And many are trekking off to the beach to “celebrate” Memorial Day. And feeding the monster called a pandemic with more deaths!

What kind of nation are we? Demonstrations yesterday took place, on Sunday, to demand that churches be open, than finger nail salons be open, that bars be open, and many chanting that 100,000 dead is no big deal.

In the soldier’s case, his family did not know for years that his B-26 had been shot down over Germany, his plane actually blew up in the air.

His remains were buried in a German burial ground, his family did not find out about it for over twenty years.

Today, I assume, since the living are ignoring the dead of the last month, that is over 100,000 now, and are at the damned beach eating hot dogs, just how disrespectful of the dead and of veterans they are acting like right now.

America is done. We are done as a decent society. We ignored Memorial Day to party….we do not deserve the sacrifice that our forefathers and mothers left us.

We no longer deserve our country.
