Are you asking about Colonel Mervin “Mel” Krieger? He was a highly decorated officer who served in World War II, specifically with Company I, 361st Infantry Regiment of the 91st Infantry Division in northern Italy. His bravery in combat earned him two Silver Stars, two Bronze Stars, and three Purple Hearts. After World War II, he continued his military career in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, eventually retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He passed away in 2006 and is interred at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in California.
